Galin Foundation Bursaries in Social Work
The Galin Foundation Masters of Social Work Bursary will provide financial assistance to graduate students registered in the part–time program who are entering their practicum year. Preference will be given to students who are sole support parents. The bursary amount will be paid at the commencement of the practicum. Three bursaries of $1,000 each are available.
To receive consideration for this award, applicants must:

  • be registered in the part–time Graduate Program in Social Work;
  • be enrolled in GS/SOWK 5350 6.0 – Advanced Practicum; and
  • have a demonstrated financial need.

Harry Newman Foundation Social Work Graduate Studies Bursary
Established 1979, the Harry A. Newman Memorial Foundation furthers the development of individuals with leadership potential for the benefit of the community. The particular interest of the Foundation is to support young people in their training for social work. Five bursaries of $700 each are available.
To receive consideration for this award, applicants must:

  • be registered in the Master of Social Work Program;
  • be Canadian citizens/permanent residents, Ontario residents;
  • have a demonstrated financial need.

Gerry Erickson Practice–based Research Paper (PRP) Prize
This prize, awarded by the School of Social Work, was created to honour the late Gerry Erickson who was the first Director of the Graduate Program in Social Work.

  • The prize is a book certificate, awarded for the best PRP submitted each academic year (July 1-June 30) by a social work student;
  • The amount of the award shall be determined by the School but shall not be less than $50.00;
  • The PRP may be submitted for consideration by the PRS instructor for whom it was written.
